Patrícia Alves Oliveira

Patrícia Alves-Oliveira is a Ph.D. student in the field of Human-Robot Interaction focused on the study of how social robots can boost human capabilities, such as creativity.

Within the EMOTE project, Patrícia has been developing engaging and efective ways of communication between students and a robot that aims to be a tutor in school classrooms, inspired in real teacher-student pedagogical interactions.
Her work focuses on the development of user-centered design studies to understand the effects of the technology when experienced in real world by the its end-users.
Patrícia has also worked in interaction design studies to understand how science-fiction culture influences what people expect when they are proposed to interact with social robots.
