Affecting Choices in Interactive Storytelling

Abstract This position paper brings forth the hypothesis that it is possible to use results from the social psychology’s area of persuasion in order to influence the player of an interactive story in predictable ways. Several important concepts of persuasion such as how people make decisions, and how can we influence the process of decision are discussed. We end with a proposal on how to apply these results in an interactive storytelling setting.
