PhD Student

Henrique Fonseca is a PhD student in the Artificial Intelligence for People and Society (GAIPS) research group at INESC-ID, Lisbon. Holding a Master’s degree in Information Systems and Computer Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico, Universidade de Lisboa, with a specialization in Intelligent Systems, Henrique’s primary research revolves around exploring the evolution of human cooperation through computational models, employing Evolutionary Game Theory as a fundamental tool. With a particular emphasis on studying how different aspects of human social intelligence help coordinate large-scale reputation-based cooperation, his most recent endeavours delve into the roles of memory and emotion expressions in shaping moral assessments and social norms. In tandem, Henrique is also interested in the development of trustworthy and fair AI for social good, envisioning how artificial agents should interact with humans in order to foster the emergence of fair, cooperative, and just hybrid societies.
