
Joana Brito
Joana Brito received the M.Sc. degree in biomedical engineering from the Technical University of Vienna (TU Wien) and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. at Instituto Superior Técnico, Universidade de Lisboa (IST-UL). She is currently a Research Member of the Group for Artificial Intelligence for People and Society (GAIPS) Research Group, Institute for Systems and Computers Engineering (INESC-ID).
Her research focuses on assistive technologies for cognition, including social robots and serious games, aimed at supporting individuals with cognitive impairments, such as children with neurodevelopmental disorders and older adults. Her work emphasizes promoting users’ sense of autonomy rather than task completion.
Her main research interests include affective computing, human-robot interaction and serious games.
