SWATE: Socially-Aware AI for Teamwork Enhancement and Training

Ongoing Project

The SWATE research initiative focuses on building a socially aware artificial intelligence designed to improve group collaboration. By analyzing continuous video and audio signals captured through standard sensors, the project translates basic physical movements into meaningful indicators of team dynamics. This specialized technology evaluates both interpersonal actions and cognitive processes to supply instructors with practical feedback tools. Ultimately, the system undergoes testing in clinical simulation environments to help medical professionals better prepare for high-stress scenarios and enhance patient care.

Participating GAIPS members include: Joana Campos, Rui Prada, Soraia Paulo, Chang Zhou.
